‘Gib’ as he known to his friends, is a sandy haired lawman about age 30, who was assigned the task of deputy Marshal of the border town of Latigo. His job is to restore order to the lawless town and he darn well is going to do it! Energetic and wiry with a gravelly voice he is equally adept at using his left-handed gun as delivering the occasional well aimed insult. He believes in keeping an orderly town, his town. The Marshal does not shy away from a fight with either a gun or a fist. He frequently brawls with Clay Culhane and their fistfights are monumental. Gib’s dislike for change is typified by his fondness for his tattered hat with a crooked brim. He is a tenacious lawman who will push himself and his horse to exhaustion on the trail of justice. Gib Scott is quite an irascible, cynical fellow. Being an old-fashioned lawman, he’s pessimistic about the court system and has seen too many bad men set free. Even though he adheres to the requirements of his job, he would just assume gather a posse than testify in court. Gib is highly distrustful of strangers and demands they leave town for the tiniest infraction.
So, when the famous gunfighter, Clay Culhane showed up in his town claiming to now be a lawyer, Gib was naturally suspicious. For Gib, Clay’s new profession is just another way to stir up trouble, challenge his authority and bring extra tasks to his workload. At times Gib and Clay are friends as they basically want the same thing - a law abiding town; they just disagree on the best course of action to achieve that goal. Gib knows that Clay is a deadly gunman and would rather have him on his side than force a gunfight. Yet, Gib can not resist poking fun at Clay’s predicaments and profession, and never calls Clay by his first name.
Gib has a younger brother Jamie whom he hasn’t seen in eight years and when the family broke up, Jamie went to live with a cousin in
